雄沉博大，浑厚苍茫
——李玉田和他的山水画

李玉田，字山农，1961年生于陕西扶风。他自幼酷爱美术，尤喜山水写生。他追求艺术刻苦、虔诚、曾在严寒的冬天在秦岭一次写生长达十几个小时。刻苦勤奋加上天资聪颖，使他画艺大进。1998年他考入西安美术学院，成为西安美院副院长、著名山水画家戴希斌先生的研究生，2001年毕业获硕士学位，并留校任教。他在学习中国山水画过程中，既注重学习古人，更重视深入生活。从他多次在国内外参展和获奖的作品中可以看出，他不但对中国古代文人山水画本源境界进行了深入地探索和研究，而且注重写生，注重从现实生活中发现、发掘美。他认为：绘画的最大课题不仅仅是表现技巧和方法，更主要的是要善于从平凡、真实的生活中发现艺术的美。他的山水画表现出的不是明清以来所形成的残山剩水和逸笔草草的细情小趣，而是山峦叠嶂、草木茂盛、江河奔流，水走云飞的博大景象，他的画能使观者如临其境，引起充分共鸣，更能激发起对现实生活的热爱。
从李玉田先生《家山万里梦依稀》、《初春》、《山雨欲来》、《春迅》等代表作品中可以看出，他不但具备扎实的传统功力，更对所要表现的内容是"有感而发"。他技法娴熟，运笔稳健，用墨层次丰富，大千世界千变万化的自然景象在他的笔下，通过墨色干湿浓淡，虚实苍润，运笔轻重缓急，刚柔相济，构图疏密聚散，起承开合、浑然一体得到恰到好处的处理，使画面效果充分体现出一个"新"字。
李玉田先生山水画的成就和特色，来源于他对西北壮丽山河纯真热爱和深切感受，来源于对传统山水画博大精深的精神内涵更深层次的思考和探索。从他的画中透露出的是丰富的思想内涵，超然于画外的精神气质，这些构成了极具强大生命活力的表现手法和独具一格的艺术魅力，充分反映出了作者所具备的很高艺术修养和良好的美术素质。
李玉田先生目前正进入艺术创作的旺盛时期，愿他继承长安画派"一手伸向传统，一手伸向生活"的优秀传统，以饱蘸激情的画笔，创作出更多、更美的画卷。
